While we are being bombarded by the warning of a climate crisis, many of us are at a loss of what we can do to make a difference. We see bold and young climate activists pushing for change and making seemingly unattainable demands — no more waste, no more meat, no more flights… it seems like it would take a true “climate hero” to live up to those standards.

But we shouldn’t let this stop us — we don’t have to be perfect to make an impact in our own ways. Although our individual actions don’t seem like much, they can actually add up to make an impact.

For example, you can reduce your carbon footprint by:

  • 600kg of CO2/year by leaving beef out of your diet
  • 340g of CO2/mile by switching from driving to bus
  • 400g of CO2/mile by switching from driving to walking or biking
  • 132kg of CO2/year by recycling

It’s okay if you can’t do it all and you don’t have to change all your habits at once. What matters is that you start taking steps to change now. Gradually, by changing one habit at a time, you will be making a huge impact!
