Frequently Asked Questions

What is the CSRD and what does it mean for my business?

The Corporate Social Reporting Directive (CSRD) requires companies in the EU to report on the impact of their corporate activities on the environment and wider society, and requires an audit on reported information.

The directive applies to all large companies that meet two of the following three criteria: turnover exceeding €50 million per year, a balance sheet total of more than €25 million or more than 250 employees (averaged over a year).

If your business meets these criteria, from January 1st 2024 onwards you will be expected to disclose sustainability information in your management reports.

How can KORA help with my company’s sustainable development goals?

By offering a transparent and traceable system to quantify the impact of your eco-friendly actions. With our rewards system, KORA encourages your employees to engage in sustainable practices, which can help to foster a sense of shared responsibility within your company culture. Our data-driven approach also enables informed decision making, and the leaderboard feature allows you to connect and collaborate with other companies working towards the same goals.

How can my business go about reducing carbon emissions?

While there are a number of ways that your business can take steps to reduce its carbon emissions on a larger scale, the first thing you need to do is start measuring your carbon footprint. This data provides you with a baseline of your current habits and how large your footprint is currently. You can then use this information to find ways to reduce its emissions. Because one big area of concern will likely be your scope emissions, KORA can provide the right data you need to learn about your current carbon footprint and facilitate your decarbonisation journey.

What is a sustainable development strategy?

A sustainable development strategy refers to a set of actionable steps that a company takes to improve their impact on the environment and their community. While they can take time to implement, when done correctly, they should benefit the company and its employees as well. Steps taken in a sustainable development strategy might include investing in renewable sources of energy in the workplace, or promoting sustainable initiatives like KORA.

How can I promote transport sustainability at my workplace?

Promoting transport sustainability at your workplace is all about implementing practical initiatives that reduce the environmental impact of commuting. While there are a number of ways you can do this, encouraging employees to make use of eco-friendly transportation options, such as cycling, walking, carpooling or using public transport, is one of the biggest changes you can make. Using KORA to help employees measure their progress and earn rewards as a result can be massively beneficial in helping to make transport sustainability a part of your company culture.

How does KORA measure my company’s efforts to reduce its carbon footprint?

KORA makes use of a third-party solution that relies on your phone’s GPS and acceleration measurements to calculate when you’ve travelled to work sustainably. Calculations are based on the following: a. how much you are commuting per day compared to your country’s average and b. the difference between the carbon footprint of the transportation mode to driving a car (at a later stage, we will compare it to the average emissions per kilometre in your country).

The app documents all of your progress and displays it in easy to read graphs – allowing you to not only see how much your actions matter, but also gain insights about your habits.
